The CVCT-PHARMA internship initiative offers young specialists and residents within cardiovascular specialties, to work as part of PHARMA study teams in all phases of clinical development within the cardiovascular, renal and metabolic areas. The focus will be on CV outcome trials, but there may also be opportunities to engage in e.g. mechanistic studies. This training includes all activities related to late phase studies, e.g. protocol development, preparation of charters for study committees and the statistical analysis plan, collaboration with the endpoint office and committee, CRF development, risk-based monitoring and safety surveillance. During study set-up, responding to regulatory and IRB questions may be included. While the study is ongoing, the young faculty will be embedded within the research team and involved in everyday operational activities. Depending on trial timing, the individual may have a role in data interpretation and dissemination as well.
The internship will furthermore give an opportunity to take part in internal scientific and operational training as applicable for the role, including being invited to the CVOT Review Meetings of ongoing large clinical trials in CV, metabolic and renal. Interactions of the YCVCT in the internship should be broad, interacting with the COMPANY representative – but also with the academic faculty in the trials’ oversight committees.
